Governance at Parasol Homes is central to our aim to provide long-term, secure and high-
quality accommodation for all our tenants.
We strongly believe in a co-regulatory approach, which allows us to work alongside the
Regulator of Social Housing (RSH) in a proactive rather than reactive manner.
We have chosen to comply with the National Housing Federation (NHF) Code of Governance
and the NHF Code of Conduct, alongside the Governance and Financial Viability Standard
2015 – this means that we are held to the highest industry standards.
To ensure the highest level of compliance with the chosen codes, we conduct internal audits
which involve completing in-depth examinations of all aspects of our business. We do this
by issuing scorecards to each business division – these scorecards help us to monitor and
track our progress and keep on top of all our governance and compliance needs.
Accountability and transparency are also key to us at Parasol Homes which is why we have
established stringent internal controls. The controls consist of 3 lines of defence which
include, Senior Management Team meetings, the Board and Committee Meetings and
reviews by both internal and external auditors. These lines of defence are necessary as a
foundation for good governance and allow us to secure the longevity of our residents’
tenancies. Our Board acknowledges its responsibility for maintaining and the system of
internal controls and for annually reviewing its effectiveness.
The Board is comprised of a Non-Executive majority and boasts a highly diverse and relevant
skillset. This allows the Board to be able to effectively oversee Parasol Homes’ activities.
Our Company Secretary works with the Board to ensure that the Board operates in an efficient
and effective manner.
Lastly and most importantly, we strongly believe in a co-regulatory approach, which allows
us to work alongside the Regulator of Social Housing (RSH) in a proactive rather than
